Application for Restaurants for Brookline Round 4

Apply to make Meals for Brookline Individuals and Families. The Brookline Chamber of Commerce is soliciting applications for Brookline restaurants to participate in "Restaurants for Brookline," a partnership between the Brookline Chamber of Commerce, the State of Massachusetts, the Brookline Food Pantry, and the Brookline Senior Center.

Participating businesses will provide roughly 50 (number will depend on number of participating restaurants), prepared, securely packaged, and labeled (with ingredients) meals for the Brookline Food Pantry and the Brookline Senior Center to distribute to food-insecure people in Brookline.

Restaurants must submit an invoice (template will be provided) to the Brookline Chamber of Commerce after each batch of meals have been cooked, packaged, and picked up. Participating restaurants will be paid by check by the Brookline Chamber of Commerce for $18, covering meal tax, per meal for the number of ordered meals, after invoices have been received. This has been increased since Round 2 from $16.05 and Round 3 at $17.

Participating businesses must:

- Provide roughly 50 (exact number to be determined, depending on number of participating restaurants) meals for pick-up once per week or 2 pick-ups of 25 meals each per week throughout the duration of the program.

- Securely package meals individually and label with names of foods and ingredients.

- Have meals ready for pick up on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. Consistent day and time to be agreed upon with the Food Pantry.

- Submit invoices each week to the Brookline Chamber of Commerce.

Program length will be approximately 8 weeks, depending on the number of interested restaurants.

We hope to begin the week of January 23rd.

At the end of the program, you will be asked to fill out a survey to report the impacts on: 1. job creation, 2. job retention, 3. your revenue 4. effectiveness of program.

We are looking for healthy meals (and some for a variety of dietary needs and preferences) consisting of a main course and one or two sides. Some examples: fish filet, sides of green beans and potato; or lasagna and salad, burrito bowl; red lentil dal; coconut curry; gumbo - you get the idea.

Meals can all be the same on a given day; with the expectation that the menu will change on each pick-up day. Please indicate if you are able to provide meals for a particular diet such as low salt, vegan, vegetarian, kosher, halal, dairy-free, nut-free, etc.

The application opens on Friday, November 28th and closes on Friday, December 16th at midnight. A committee including representatives from the Brookline Chamber of Commerce, the Brookline Food Pantry, and the Brookline Senior Center will review the applications and inform all applicants of decisions via email.

The separate application form that you will get when you register is due on FRIDAY, December 16th at midnight.

Our aim is to provide simple, hearty, nutritious meals that will be easy to distribute and reheat and that require minimal assembly. Though we know your chefs do fantastic work, often with specialty ingredients, this program prioritizes the volume and heartiness of meals over the complexity of the menu.

That said, if possible, some diners would appreciate if you are able to provide some meals from time to time that take special diets, such as vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, nut free, wheat free, etc. into consideration.

THE EXPECTATION IS THAT YOU WILL PROVIDE AMOUNTS OF FOOD WORTH THE $18 THAT YOU WILL BE REIMBURSED. If you wouldn't sell it for that price, it is not appropriate to serve.
